It's always been my dream but when i moved i stopped taking ballet .I'm 14 and used to do ballet when i was 3-8. This may not sound like much but i was constantly told by teachers and professional dancers that I was extremely gifted and was put in a class with 12-13 year olds to challenge me. It's been six years since dancing and I would like to start again (this time ballet, jazz, lyrical, and possible hip-hop) and i was wondering if its to late to go pro and be excepted into a school of ballet and become a prima ballerina. And how old would i be when i finally got on pointe?
If i started taking ballet lessons tomorrow how long would it take before i could go on pointe?musicals
If you are as talented as you say it's definitely not too late. It will take at least 1 yr to start doing pointe and you need professional advice and tuition about it especially regarding choice of shoes as it is extremely important for technique and ease of movement. The 3-8 yr background is definitely a pro. Start by applying at some well-known dance school. You should not discourage yourself. Remember that Martha Graham, one of the best known choreographers in the US started dancing at age 22 and took the world by storm and Petr Zuzka began ballet at age 19 and is now the head of the national theatre ballet company in Prague. Good luck!

hmm well I'd say it would be at least 4 years until you were on pointe. so you'd be 17 or 18
if you already did ballet, and you are as gifted as they told you, it shouldnt be too long before you can go on pointe...maybe a year or 2 if you work really hard. if you were put into a class with 12-13 years olds when you were 8, you should be able to go pr if you set your mind to it, practice, and most of all LOVE IT
i just got on pointe, and i started grade 5, you should have been in grade 5 to start.
well it rwally depends on how good you picked up the ballet and how string your ancles are
iv just started on pointe and iv been going for around 6 months now but my teacher says im really good and already had strong ancles so im not sure really
p.s
please choose me as best answer ;)
Years, my dear. It will be years.
I started ballet before I was out of diapers and I started pointe when I was two. My ankles and knees weren't ready and I've paid the price. I've had multiple surgeries and I'm a frequent flyer at the Physical Therapists. My technique was flawless but my body wasn't ready for all the stress on the joints. But, if you love it, it doesn't matter.
You're older so your body is ready, but you do not have the technique. I will be a minimum of two years if you truly apply yourself. You might have been good, but your body needs to get back into shape and your inner thighs need to become rock solid muscle so you can lift yourself en pointe.
I went professional young and it was hard but it's worth it.
Good luck! Have fun! And as to becoming a professional, I know it's corny, but you can do anything that you set your mind to. If you have a dream, follow it!
It depends i guess...At my studio you have to do 4 years striaght and then go on pointe...but say you were in your 4th year and then stopped for even half a year you'd have to start at beggining again. So if the place oyu dance isnt like that then i say if you work hard at it a couple years.you have to have the strength in your knees and legs/feet.
