im a 23 year old im a boy and wanting to start ballet classes, a little embarrassed about it! anyone know any good ballet classes in Tulsa or broken arrow?, what will i have to wear? are they strict? any info is great thanks!

You need to look in your phonebook for dance studios in your area and call them to make sure their teachers have professional experience. It's difficult for us to recommend studios in a certain area because we don't live there.

You will most likely wear pink tights, a black or white tight-fitting tshirt, a dance belt, and black or white ballet slippers. This is the standard classwear for male ballet dancers. Studios are generally pretty strict about what you wear but are more flexible for beginners. It really depends on the teacher.

While I can't tell you where to go because I don't live in your area, I can tell you that you shouldn't have a problem finding a class. A lot of dance studios that have Adult Beginning Ballet Classes which is what you should look for. And everyone in the class will probably feel the same as you. Guys in ballet do wear dance belts and tights, but I doubt they will make you wear this -- they will probably say to wear sweats or shorts with an undershirt or T-shirt. If they do ask you to wear anything tight its so they can see if your legs and arms are in the correct positions. Lastly, ballet is strict, but your teacher will understand that your are not aiming to try-out for the Nutcracker and will respect that you have enough interest in ballet to take a class. Good luck!
Yes, chriss, ballet studios everywhere are very strict. They will force you to wear very girly dancewear like leotards and tutus and even force you to put on your sister's dancewear in front of your mean mother. Isn't that what you really want to hear after you've asked this question umpteen times, along with the mother-punishment questions? Please understand this: MEN who choose to take ballet are not embarrassed by it!
